This Project comes as an initiative of our students to use the chance of Europe being the location hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Project addresses themes from the Olympic and Paralypmic Values of Excellence, Friendship, Inspiration, Respect, Courage, Equality and Determination.

Every four years Olympic games bring people from all over the world together to celebrate sports and culture, making them appreciate talent, aspirations, ambitions and young people pushing themselves to perform beyond their physical and mental limits. In 2012, Europe hosted the Olympic Games and this is the springboard behind our Project. As this event is very special, we want to emphasise the European and National identities of the participating partners so that our students learn more about the history and geography of the European (Greek) Games, embrace the core values through the spirit of the Olympics and share cultural commonalities and differences. European projects provide the opportunity for participating teachers to share experiences about cultures and pedagogical approaches in other schools. For the pupils in participating schools it will be a chance to learn from each other and erode prejudices towards each others' nations.

The positive contribution that technology makes to education is highlighted, especially since computers are initial means of exchange knowledge and cultural interaction by constant communication, co-operation and other lifelong learning skills. By finding out about these, students will explore the identity of their and other local regions finding the Values that are strong and can be improved in their community by developing a sense of belonging to the "Big Family of Europe" through the "Olympic Spirit Uniting Europe".
